Bike Lights, Why do we need them?

I still see many cyclists without lights while riding at night. Well, maybe they are the ones who use bikes to go to work, or those of our brothers who prioritize the food on their plates more than the bike accessories, especially the bike light, which I think is important when you go riding in the dark.

There are many types of bike lights on the market today, some are cheap, and some are a bit pricey.

First of all, I recommend using at least 2 lights whenever we bike at night. A red light at the back and a white light in front. But it’s better if you have more than two, for a particular reason:
– If the battery is out of charge, you have a backup.
– Or, You can put your extra light on other parts like the helmet so that motorists can see you better on the road. It’s safer that way, right?

So what do we need?:

Headlight

– Getting the right and good bike lights keeps you safe on the road. Too bright light is not a solution either, the important thing is visibility. No matter what brand you choose as long as it can perform its main job. To SEE. If you ride a bike in crowded areas or in the city, the front light is important for people to notice you. It is better if you use two lights, one steady and one blinking. So that pedestrians can quickly see you. And you can also see the road well, especially if you don’t know the place, maybe there are roads being repaired and you won’t notice it if you don’t have a light or headlight. And one more thing, I also sometimes see cyclists whose headlights are focused around the eye level of a person. And we know that is dangerous because it hurts the person’s eyes and can lead to short-term blindness that can cause an accident. So please keep your headlights on the road.

Tail Light

– Cyclists often underestimate the importance of the lights on the back of our bike, compared to the headlights. They said it is fine even if they don’t have a light at the back or tail light. And most cyclists don’t wear reflective clothing or safety vests when riding bikes, they say it’s not good and it’s disgusting. Well, not all drivers at night are alert on the road, especially drivers who are on the road all day. Some were tired and sleepy so it was a bit difficult for them to estimate what was in front of them. So, this is where our TAIL LIGHTS come into play. So we need a light on the back of our bike so that these types of drivers can see us quickly.

Helmet Rear Lights

– For me, this is not really required if you already have a tail light on your bike, but it is still helpful for visibility at night. And it also serves as your backup if your tail light’s battery is out of charge. Isn’t it safer like this?

There are many kinds of lights that we can use whenever we ride a bike at night. These are the lights that are not required but give us extra visibility and it’s up to you if you use these.

2 Kilometers of Pain, A Lifetime of Pride

REVPAL is known among cyclists as one of the steepest and most challenging roads near Metro Manila. It serves as an alternative route to Tagaytay, but it’s far from an easy ride. Starting from Nuvali Boulevard and heading towards People’s Park in the Sky, riders are immediately tested both in endurance and in mental toughness.   The most feared stretch lies in Barangay Casile —a two-kilometer segment that locals and cyclists alike call the KOR, or King of Revpal . This isn’t just a nickname; it’s a rite of passage. The gradient is relentless, with sharp inclines that seem to never end. Each pedal stroke feels heavier than the last, and every turn tricks you into thinking the climb is over, only to reveal yet another wall of road ahead. For many cyclists, conquering this climb is more than just a physical challenge. It’s a battle of willpower. The pain in the legs, the burning in the lungs, and the constant fight against gravity become a test of discipline and determination. But on...
